JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for motivated, reliable, and loyal individuals who want to be part of a winning team helping to persuade voters to support Y-Strategy’s progressive candidates, clients and causes. A Field Organizer essentially engages in campaigning door-to-door by conversing with probable voters. It is a tough, yet rewarding job where the job seeker can learn first hand about local politics in hotly contested races.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must have strong verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal communication skills.

• Must remain organized and accurate when recording their canvassing activities or maintaining their canvassing materials, such as tablets.

• Must always maintain a tactful, positive, personable, outgoing and enthusiastic attitude when interacting with voters.

• Must be professional as well as self-directed and able to work well in a team.

• Must take proper safety precautions on the job, and have basic map-reading skills such as use of GPS on a smartphone or tablet app.

This is the type of job a vast majority of politically involved and community driven individuals take as an entry level job. Canvassers/Field Organizers at Y-Strategy earn $13/hour and are expected to work 15-36 hours per week depending on availability. Canvassing is the most expensive and most effective means of voter persuasion. It is the backbone of any successful campaign. If you are willing to work hard in order to make real progressive change in your city, your state, and your country this is the job for you.
