As a woman of color with low name recognition, and opposed by the majority of Travis County elected officials, Dyana had quite the uphill battle. Our campaign strategy focused on a strong platform, not politicking. Dyana’s natural charisma with voters was supplemented by creating memorable campaign materials that matched her bold message. We also promoted her fundraising experience from her time with Planned Parenthood Texas Votes, and highlighted her multigenerational Texas heritage to win this election.
