Rio

VISUAL DIRECTOR

Raised an army brat, Rio grew up moving from state to state throughout the U.S. When her family was stationed at Ft. Hood, she took her first ever high school trip to Texas's capitol and was captivated by Austin's vibe. So much so, she stayed despite her family being stationed elsewhere to earn her BFA in Design at the University of Texas at Austin. Her experience as a mixed race woman of color drove her to combine her affinity for art with her instinct to do what is right. She currently leads the creative department of Y Strategy, helping candidates deliver their message in a compelling way through bright color and excellent type. Outside the office, you can find Rio strumming along her ukulele or trying to maintain her DuoLingo streak.

Alex

FIELD DIRECTOR

After growing up in Pittsburgh, Alex attended the University of Kentucky to study Political Science. During his time in Appalachia, Alex saw first hand what can happen to a community when profits are placed before the community and environment. A street from Alex’s childhood, Valley View Road, no longer has any valleys that aren’t overrun by fracking infrastructure. This inspired Alex’s determination to making sure our elected officials always put people first. Before Y Strategy, Alex worked for the Travis County Democratic Party as a Field Organizer, and for the Williamson County Democratic Party as their Coordinated Campaign Manager. If you want to find Alex outside office hours, check the nearest craft beer brewery or disc golf course.
